RUGBY giants uganda telecom Kobs and MTN Heathens have got their wish after they grumbled about facing off in the Uganda Cup final without their key players.

With both teams having several players in the Cranes squad that travels tomorrow to Namibia for the world rugby body IRB Sevens tournament, the final earlier slated for this Saturday has been postponed to October 3.

Kobs coach Herbert Wafula, whose side had to struggle to edge Entebbe Mongers 21-20 in the semi-finals last Saturday, welcomed the rugby union’s decision.

“My players are with the national team, it was a good decision to postpone the final. I want those dropped from the national squad to resume training with the club immediately,” Wafula stated.
Kobs starters Andrew Kamanyire, Lawrence Wakabi and Allan Otim will be with the 7s team.

Heathens stars Brian Kikawa, Michael Wokorach, Arthur Mukama, Benon Kiiza and Jonathan ‘Bishop’ Onen would have been missed if the final had not been postponed.

r All rugby officials will re-sit their level II course before undertaking level III next month in South Africa, adds Johnson Were.

“IRB has introduced a new format for all level I, II coaches and referees to re-take those courses before end of this month,” rugby union vice chairman Stephen Ojambo, who doubles as IRB referee manager, confirmed.
