BRAZILIAN coach Prof. Jose Antonio Gomes Nogueira has reminded Ugandans that you do not need the best facilities in the world before you can produce soccer super stars.

He said many Brazilian children and youths practice on pitches with bare ground but it is the curiosity and a general football focus by the communities that has kept their name shining all the years.

Three Brazilian coaches are in Kampala to conduct a freshers coaches course to youths, mainly students of sports science in higher institutions of learning.

The workshop has attracted 37 participants from Makerere, Islamic, Makerere Business School and Kampala International universities. Others are from Kawempe FA and women football.

The three coaches who began by conducting a similar course in Kenya are headed by Nogueira accompanied by physical trainer, Jose Portella and goalkeepers coach, Reuther Moreira.

“We have been sent by the Brazilian ministry of sports on an exchange programme with the Ugandan ministry of education and sports. It was on the same programme that we have been in Kenya,” Prof. Nogueira said.

The coaches have outstanding experience in international football.
Nogueira has coached clubs in Japan, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia and the national team of Sierra Leone.

Portella has worked in Portugal and Saudi Arabia and has been on the Brazilian U-20 and U-23 national teams while Moreira has also worked in Portugal, Belgium and Thailand. He is a former goalkeeper for the record five time soccer World Cup winners Brazil.
