IT is not every day that a 250th birthday is celebrated. Last Thursday was 250 years since Irish man Arthur Guinness first flaged off the now globally popular beer, Guinness when he signed a 9,000-year lease at the St James’s Gate brewery in Dublin, Ireland.

A sizeable number of his Ugandan fans made it to UMAssociation hall in Lugogo to celebrate and toast to this remarkable achievement.

As RS Elvis, the emcee at the event said: “Guinness is the best thing ever to have come out of Ireland and has a world-wide daily consumption of 10 million glasses.”

The Guinness themed evening celebrations were marked with black and gold decorations. Mase Consults, the event organisers, did a commendable job. The lighting and sound were nothing short of exquiste.

Last year’s Tusker Project Fame winner Esther Nabaasa performed as did Bebe Cool and Irene Namubiru.

But the ice on the cake was Grace Nakimera, the Guinness Ambassador. She brought the best out of the crowd with a performance that put male ribaldry to test.

R.S Elvis had alot to divulge about the guinness beer as the only invited guests of the event gazzled the beer.

According to him guinness has more calories than orange juice or skimmed milk. He also aplauded it’s distinctive- taste.
