Central crowned U-14 Youth Champions

CENTRAL won the City Tyres U-14 Youth Champions League trophy for a record third time in a row.The champions’ started from where they left last year by beating Nile A 2-0 in an entertaining final at Kakindu stadium on Saturday.

CENTRAL won the City Tyres U-14 Youth Champions League trophy for a record third time in a row.The champions’ started from where they left last year by beating Nile A 2-0 in an entertaining final at Kakindu stadium on Saturday.

Top marksman Emmanuel Olinga opened the scoring after 19 minutes, notching up his fourth goal and becoming the top scorer of the three-day tournament.

Faisal Nsubuga sealed Nile’s fate with a clinical finish in the second half to ensure the trophy returns to Kampala.

In the play-off for third and fourth positions, East Buganda beat Arua 6-5 in post match

The teams ended regular time goalless.

Central, who had won the trophy in 2007 and 2008, are the most successful region in the annual competition.

Sande Stephen of East Buganda was named the best player.

The left-back will receive one year’s school subscription from the sponsors.

A total of 116 boys participated in the ninth edition of the event sponsored by City Tyres.

Eleven regional teams entered the Friends of Football organised event.

The event drew crowds that cheered the youngsters right from the opening match through to the final.
