UGANDA will field three athletes at the World Belt Wrestling Championships due in Tashkent in Uzbekistan next month, reports Silvano Kibuuka. The championship being promoted by United Nations Heritage Programme offered Uganda air tickets to field three to the event in the Russian Federation state.

Uganda wrestling body acting secretary, Lanny Kimbowa, said they are yet to name the wrestlers but is confident Uganda will be represented.

“We shall soon name the team to embark on intensive training,” said Kimbowa adding: “We are now looking for a ticket for a referee/judge to accompany the players as leader of the delegation”.

It is the fourth time Uganda will participate in the event that earns athletes world ranking points if they perform well.
