PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has urged parents to educate and support education if the country is to develop.

The President said this in a message during the burial of Sabina Kakwenda Mbaguta, the mother to the state minister for public service, Prisca Seezi Mbaguta, in Kashayo village in Rukungiri over the weekend.

“We have lost an educationist who did not educate her children only but children in the entire village. Most people in Kashayo got education on the advice of the late Sabina,” Museveni said.

Museveni urged parents to emulate Sabina.

Sabina Mbaguta, 85, died in Mulago hospital last week after heart failure.

Seezi Mbaguta said: “She educated us and I was the first girl to get a university degree in the whole sub-county.”

The district LC5 chairperson, Zedekia Katono Karokora, said Sabina was one of the Christians who pioneered evangelism in Kigezi.

Justice John Bosco Katutsi said although Sabina did not pay his school fees, she gave him the reason to study and become what he is.

The vice president, prof. Gilbert Bukenya and Rujumbura MP Jim Muhwezi, who did not attend the burial, sent condolences and contributions to help the family to meet burial expenses.
