EDITOR—The letter by Dr. Lule entitled “What a shame†was spot-on. Lule narrates how a woman he saw was forced to sing “Ekitibwa kya Buganda†in the nude simply because she was wearing trousers.

Many people witnessed more barbaric acts during the riots in the name of Buganda but are not talking! At Kawanda, I witnessed a rioter hit an old man with a large log on the head. Reason?
The man did not get off a boda- boda to sing “Ekitibwa kya Bugandaâ€. The old man collapsed on the ground and was taken to hospital. Considering the commotion that was going on in the direction of Kampala, Kawempe and Bwaise, I wonder if the poor man reached Mulago Hospital.
To make it worse, the folks at Mengo and some Members of Parliament are defending the perpetrators of this mayhem in the name of our kingdom! Was it necessary to use such barbaric methods? How can barbaric acts be committed in ‘defence’ of ekitibwa kya Buganda?
