SOCCER - Jinja’s division one soccerleague giant Wanyange Fisheries will on Independence day have a friendly game against Namunkanaga. The match, due at Namunkanaga primary school play ground, will serve as a build-up to the division one league due to start soon. Wanyange Fisheries will be out to recover from the 3-0 defeat against Walukuba Utowa in the quarter-finals of the Makubuya Memorial tournament recently.

St Lawrence in

RUGBY - St Lawrence Paris Palais are pitted against holders Kakamega High of Kenya in the opening game of the Cola Schools Independence rugby Cup tomorrow. Sixteen teams, drawn in four pools, have entered the annual event due at Kyadondo rugby grounds.
Following the failure of Uganda’s champions St Mary’s College Kisubi to participate, Kakamega will face competition from teams like Kings’ College Budo.

Uhuru tourney draws 18 clubs

HOCKEY - Eighteen teams will battle for honours in the 9th edition of the Independence Hockey tournament starting at Lugogo today. The three-day event due to end on Sunday, has also attracted institutions. Two guest teams –– Green sharks and Police club from Kenya were expected to arrive in Kampala last evening for the event. Also in action is Wanainchi club that defeated Simba Union 3-1 in last year’s final.
