THE 14-year-old girl who allegedly disappeared from Kiwoko Police Station last month, has been in the custody of her grandmother, Divine Nakabuye.
She was recovered from Kasasa village, Kalungu sub-county in Masaka district.
The girl went missing on September 1 after being released on bond from Kiwoko Police Station, where she had spent a night over assaulting a fellow minor.
The Police suspect her guardians, Ahmed Nsereko and Esther Nakayiwa, changed her name to hide her identity.
The purported disappearance had led to the arrest of a Police officer, Ibrahim Sennyonga, who was later released on bond.
The girl’s guardians, through Kituma, Magala and Company Advocates, filed a petition in the High Court which subsequently issued a letter on September 24, ordering the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General and the Kiwoko O/C Station to produce the girl by 11.00am on September 28.
The Kiwoko criminal investigations officer, Julius Nkurunziza, was part of a combined team of Police and Masaka LCs, who recovered the girl after a tip-off.
The girl, who was on Thursday transferred to Luweero, was by Friday held at Kiwoko Police Station, together with Ahmed Nsereko and Esther Nakayiwa.
