Nile Breweries donates to East
PALLISA-Nile Breweries has continued to support orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) in Budaka, Bukedea, Kumi and Pallisa districts. “This is to motivate the children in the farming regions to enable them to have a bright future, despite them losing their parents,” corporate affairs director Onapito Ekomoloit said. The project started in April. Over 50 selected OVCs from the four districts received assorted bedding and scholastic materials from Nile breweries in Pallisa town. The children received mattresses, blankets, bedsheets, mosquito nets, basins, schoolbags, exercise books, pencils, mathematical sets and sanitary pads for the girls.

Needy get goats
MAYUGE-Guardian Integrated Development and Child Care Organisation (GIDCCO), a Jinja-based NGO, on Sunday donated support items and goats to orphans and widows. Over 100 orphans looked after by the organisation received mosquito nets, blankets and scholastic materials. Nine widows were given posho and exotic goats. The items were handed over to the orphans of Heart of God Nursery and Primary School by Nelson Wandira, the LC3 boss of Buwaya sub-county in the company of the director of GIDCCO, Pastor Fred Mwanje. Mwanje said the funds were donated by Jean Pierrie, an associate of GIDCCO.

Rotary club gives to Teso
SOROTI-The Uganda Rotary Club has donated four tonnes of relief food worth sh5.8m to malnourished children in Teso. The beneficiaries included hospitalised children, orphans and those affected by HIV/AIDS. The country chairman in charge of health and hunger, Constantine Tadria, said over 700 children from the districts of Soroti, Amuria and Katakwi will benefit. Tadria said the funds were raised among club members. Because of the credit crunch, it was difficult to make an international appeal, he said. Rotarian Moses Mugabi said people should join the rotary club and develop a nutrition project that can benefit the children in the region.
