PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has called on the leaders of the Bamba community in Bundibugyo district to present documents to the Government showing that they do not support the return of the Rwenzururu cultural institution.

“If elected leaders pass a resolution as evidence that they don’t want to be associated with this cultural institution, we shall know what to do. It will clarify that the Baamba don’t want to associate with the Obusinga,” he said.

The President was on Wednesday meeting leaders from Bundibugyo district led by their chairman Fulgensio Bamwitirebye of the Baamba/Babwisi elders association.

The delegation presented a brief to the President about their grievances against the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu cultural institution and declared that they did not support it.

A press statement from State House said the President warned leaders against politicising cultural issues.

The meeting came ahead of President Museveni’s visit to Kasese where he has been invited as chief guest at the 43rd coronation ceremony of Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere.

He also pledged to look into issues raised by the elders including the construction of a bridge at River Semiliki and offered five State House scholarships in science subjects to the district.
