EXPRESS FC’s Noah Ssemakula raised the bar last Sunday after single-handedly dispatching Boroboro with the first hat-trick of the season.

Against Masaka LC at Wankulukuku Stadium, the Express forward will be challenged to maintain that form in one of the four fixtures on card today.

The Red Eagles’ 3-0 win over Boroboro owed much to Ssemakula's lethal instinct within the 18-yard area.

If they are to continue with their revival, Ssemakula and his colleagues will have to replicate that performance against a Masaka side that is equally riding high on confidence following their hard-fought 2-1 away victory to Arua Central.

Ssemakula is a tailor-made attacking midfielder but has of late been handed the support striker’s role due to his versatility.

With striker Daniel Sserunkuuma still injured, Ssemakula will continue to shoulder the club’s attacking burdens alongside Moses Ndaula.

The Wankulukuku side has made its intentions clear this season: not just to participate, but to contend for the title.

Masaka coach George Lutalo will send his charges out with an ultimatum of denying Ssemakula access to the ball or suffer the consequences.

At Nakivubo, Bunamwaya, expected to build their attacking play on the shoulders of striker Caesar Okhuti, will need to gather extra mobility to overcome a Maji side that covers every blade of the pitch.

The other game pits Boroboro against a Police team that has yet to set the current season alight.

The Cops' engagement against Boroboro is one of those fixtures that should help them realise the confidence needed to revive their faltering season.

“We need to improve on several aspects about our game,” Police midfielder Joram Katende stated.
