300 kids get malaria kits
MPIGI-A total of 300 children in the district have received free malaria, skin disease and intestinal worm treatment. They were also given free mosquito nets, tablets and ointments for fungal infections like ring worms at a clinic held at Kibibi Umea Day and Boarding Primary School last week. The treatment was organised by Madrasa Resource Centre, a project under the Aga Khan Foundation. Shafique Ssekalala, the project director, said the initiative was aimed at enabling children from poor communities access quality healthcare and education. The children also received dental check ups.

Man held over murder
NAKASONGOLA-The Police have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected to have hacked his cousin to death and stolen his mobile phone. Yona Semaganda, a resident of Kyakala village in Nabiswera sub-county, was arrested last week after the Police found the victim’s body in a forest where the two had camped for charcoal burning. The district Police chief, Richard Sekyondwa, identified the deceased as Lawrence Kiryowa. A postmortem report showed that the victim died of shock and excessive bleeding from a deep cut on the forehead.
