THREE Ugandan heart patients have successfully undergone open-heart-surgery in South Korea.

Shamimu Nalukwago, 12, Scovia Aceng, 35, and Sworo Chaplain Kiri, 25, a Sudanese refugee and a student, were on Saturday received at Entebbe Airport by Hwan Sung medical officials.

The operations were carried out on November 4-5 at the Cardiac and Vascular Centre at Sam Sung Hospital.

This was the third time the company sponsored patients for surgery.
Sungh-Hwan Kim, the Hwan Sung Group of Companies chairman, travelled to South Korea ahead of the patients.

He worked with Dr. Pyo-Won Park, the director of the Cardiac and Vascular Centre, to ensure that the operations were done on schedule and to clear the bills.

Kim said he would continue funding heart patients, many of whom cannot afford the bills.
