CHAMPIONS URA’s 1-0 win at home in Namboole on Saturday is latest indication that the side is determined to continue the fight for the title after a dismal start.
The win, in the Uganda Super League, was the third in a row for Moses Basena side.
The domestic football’s premier event was halted after Saturday’s matches to enable the Cranes preppare without interruption for the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
The regional show is set for November 28 to December 13 in Mumias and Nairobi.
Cranes are defending champions of the event.
Basena is optimistic his team will maintain the current form when the league resumes.
“We are gaining momentum. We want to win matches because we shall be judged by our consistence,†Basena said.
Basena’s team had picked maximum points against KCC 1-0 and Kinyara 3-0 going into Saturday’s game.
URA is all out to close the gap on the two teams –– Express, who are former champions and
Bunamwaya seeking a maiden crown.
Fire Masters, making a debut in the competition, dropped to fourth position, having led the contest in its early stages.
At the same time, 16-time champions Villa are yet to make an impact this season, a trend attributed to their wasteful nature in a couple of games.
Meanwhile, offifials of Iganga, Victors and CRO have said the move to halt the league will make their players redundant.
They explained that the act also affects the tempo that the league had gained.
