- The national cycling champion Joseph Mayanja risks missing this year’s championship due to lack of a sponsor. Mayanja, a boda boda operator in Jinja says he will miss next month’s event unless he secures a racing sports bicycle in the next two weeks. “I want a good Samaritan to help me raise at least sh1m. I am finding difficulties in raising money to buy a new bicycle that I will use in the race in order to defend my title.” He won last year’s 160km national championship.

Anti-dope call
- Local national anti-doping organisation NADO is to meet all heads of sports federations and coaches to sensitise them on anti-doping. NADO chairman Dr. Ntege Ssengendo said this at the end of the world anti-doping body and the ministry of education workshop that involved teachers, journalists, sports medical officers and ministry of education officials.

Busia man wins Stanbic TV set
- A produce dealer in Busia has won a 29-inch colour LG TV set in the Stanbic Bank Africa Cup of Nations promotion. Amuza Mawerere received his prize from Patrick Richard Waliggo the Stanbic Bank eastern region sales and services manager at the Busia branch on Tuesday. Stanbic Bank is an official sponsor of the Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted in Angola in January. One is entered in the draw after transacting on his account five times a week.
