UGANDA has been urged to develop its vocational training system to make students more productive in life.

Prof. Lennart Nilsson from the University of Gotenborg in Sweden noted that many students graduate without attaining adequate skills to fit in the job market, thus end up unemployed.

Nilsson was speaking at a workshop organised by the NORAD’s Programme for Masters Studies (NOMA) at Kyambogo in Kampala.

He said training in entrepreneurship skills would make people self-employed and productive unlike many programmes in Africa.

The NOMA programme is a collaborative initiative between Akershus University in Norway, Kyambogo University in Uganda and Upper Nile University in Southern Sudan.

It focuses on the use of group-based learning approaches, as opposed to the traditional classroom-based forms of learning and teaching.
