Uganda comes 2nd in Africa event

STEPHEN Kiprotich won his first international cross country race in Europe while Geoffrey Kusuro won sh40m after finishing second in the Obudu Mountain Running Championship in Nigeria on Sunday.

STEPHEN Kiprotich won his first international cross country race in Europe while Geoffrey Kusuro won sh40m after finishing second in the Obudu Mountain Running Championship in Nigeria on Sunday.

Kiprotich won the title in the Lotto Cross Country in Belgium on a weekend when Ugandans competed on sev¬eral fronts. Moses Kibet beat a field of Kenyans to come second in the Kenya Tusker Cross Country Championships while Boniface Kiprop came eighth in Portugal.

In mountain running, world champion Geoffrey Kusuro finished second in the Obudu championships to win $20,000 (sh40m).

Martin Toroitich (10th) and Moses Aliwa (17th), combined with Kusuro for Uganda’s second place in the inaugural Africa event.
