THE sh152m meant for the tarmacking of the 1.4km road from Kamuli town to the district headquarters will instead be used to rehabilitate the 25km Naminage–Buwala-Lambaala road.

In a meeting on Monday, the council agreed to rehabilitate the impassable road, which links Kitayunjwa, Bulopa and Wankole sub-counties.

The contractors are already in the district. The resealing of the has been halted.

The motion was tabled by the district vice chairperson, Vincent Galisansana who said the maintenance was necessary as the road links Kitayunjwa, Bulopa and Wankole sub-counties.


Residents of Kotido town will benefit from a water station rehabilitated by the Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme.

Touring the project on Friday, the regional coordinator, Harriet Paula, said the sh300m donation from the Office of the Prime Minister had enabled them purchase a new generator to run the pumps in the four wells. Part of the money will be used to replace corroded pipes and reservoirs.

The district water engineer, Gasper Okidi, said the only challenge is lack of storage facilities.
