CHRISTMAS is just two days away.
Many, including domestic football coaches, are getting ready with the white beards and Santa’s big red hats.

It is that calendar date when people show affection and the art of giving.

So each of the 16 clubs involved in today’s pre-festive league engagements need not be reminded of the responsibility in preserving the values of this date –– and what better way than winning their respective matches for their faithful?

While table leaders Express FC march into their fixture against CRO determined to secure a win that will proclaim them as ‘Christmas Champions’, title contenders KCC, SC Villa and URA will equally approach their games aware that nothing but victory will keep Express in sight.

The Red Eagles’ tie with CRO possesses a few hallmarks of ‘a possible upset’.

The Wankulukuku side are of course the favourites, having won both of their last outings. But reassuring as this maybe, Express know this pales into insignificance considering the fact that their opponents have had a month-break to reorganise.

“We also need to get away points and therefore our hosts should expect a run for their money,” CRO coach Frank ‘Video’ Anyau said yesterday.

Today’s tie will be CRO’s first in four weeks, having missed fixtures against SC Villa and Bunamwaya following the unavailability of Mbale Municipal Stadium.

In Masindi, KCC will have to overlook their administrative wrangles and play out of their hearts if they are to successfully negotiate their way out of the dreaded Masindi grounds.

KCC, who managed just a point against Maji, will confront Kinyara without suspended holding midfielder Jimmy Kakooza.

In the only match yesterday, Maji came from a goal down to beat visiting Boroboro 3-2 at Nakivubo.
