UK-BASED Ugandan dynamic duo, Da Twinz, are back in the limelight. The boys (real names Dennis Mugaga aka Deno and David Kinobe aka Dee) have just released a flash ship video for their new album Tantilaala. The video is for Kwomu the latest single off Tantilaala.

The single, an up-tempo Afrobeat treat with Caribbean influences, produced by Tony Houls (whom the pair had to fly all the way to their London-based studio on Murry Groove) is about two guys who believe they are in love with the same girl, only to discover they are dating identical twins!

The video, which was released on December 28, 2007 by Da Twinz Entertainment, their local label in Kampala, is already getting commendable rotation on television stations.

Tantilaala delivers the duo’s most refined and soulful set yet. Deno says: “We tried to do an album that is spiritually touching; solid songs that expand what we have done before and allow our fans to witness our growth.”

Following the release of Tantilaala closely, will be another album featuring remixes of their old hits which, Deno says, will be released in the first quarter of this year.

He says the remixes, which are mainly dancehall, will be done by renowned UK-based Jamaican producer, Kelvin Evans, who has worked with big names in the industry like Kevin Lyttle, the late Lucky Dube, Senegalese reggae superstar Tatu, British R&B sensation Nathan and Nigerian stars P-Square.

Da Twinz announced their arrival in 2004 with Ndeku, their debut album which spawned hits like Mudomo, Ndeku and Naki. Travis Kazibwe produced the entire album. It also earned them a nomination in the prestigious Pearl of Africa Music Awards.

The group followed Ndeku with Muliro, which, with the help of some strong cuts, did well. Fimbo released in 2006, saw the boys reaching out for collaborations, for example in Walk & Sleep featuring Jamaican dancehall starlet Alibaba and Njo Hapa featuring Tanzania’s Bushoke. Other hits off the album are Mpora Mpora and Fimbo.

But despite all their musical accomplishments, Da Twinz have not yet performed in Uganda, but hopefully, Deno says, that will happen soon.
