DATA Fundi, an information and communications technologies (ICT) firm, is to mark five years by holding an exhibition that will include global companies. Data Fundi is among the few local companies engaged in the installation of the national ICT backbone.

NokiaSiemens, Shyam Telecom, Emperion A/S, Ultratec and Duraline PVT have confirmed their participation in the exhibition. It will be Uganda’s first ICT exhibition this year.

“We shall demonstrate our capacity to deliver telecom network infrastructure projects including the delicate optical fibre cable installation among others,” Kato William Bitarabeho, one of Data Fundi’s proprietors, said.

Bitarabeho said at his office on Kanjokya Street in Kampala that Data Fundi had filled a gap created by lack of local expertise for technical project management.

The company, which has an annual turnover of about $1m (sh1.7b), employs 16 permanent staff and depending on the projects, over 300 temporary workers and eight engineering consultants.

The managing director, Edward Musisi Kasule, said the climax of the celebrations would be on January 18. A notice on Data Fundi’s website says leading IT experts will be among the speakers.
