THE redesigned Super 8 Rugby League kicks off on February 2 with newly promoted Nile and Mongers hosting giant teams. Nile hosts Uganda Cup holders G4S Pirates in Jinja while Mongers take on MTN Heathens in Entebbe.

The top flight league has been expanded from six teams to eight following the promotion of Nile and Mongers.

There will consequently be more big games in Entebbe and Jinja in a bid to raise interest in the game outside Kampala.

League champions utl Kobs will start their title defence against Buffaloes at Kampala club. At Kyadondo, Hima Impis face revamped Cente Rhinos that have stepped up their game since landing sponsorship from Centenary Bank late last season.

The second week promises to be more exciting as longtime rivals Heathens host Kobs while Rhinos will come up against Pirates.

The league sponsored by East African Breweries under its Guinness brand, ends on June 10, two weeks before the Uganda-Kenya Elgon Cup first leg in Kampala.
