Cranes’ FIFA ranking drops
SOCCER - Uganda has fallen to 97th in the January FIFA/Coca Cola World Ranking, 21 places below 76th position from December. Uganda had climbed a collective 24 places since September but the ranking released yesterday have it as the second worst movers after falling by 71 points. Consequently, it dropped from 15th to 24th on the continent. 2007 ended on a high for Uganda as it equalled its 11th all time standing in the ranking but, its 0-1 semifinal loss to Rwanda in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and 2-0 win over Burundi for third place, FIFA sent Uganda tumbling.

KCC demands
SOCCER - Livingstone Mulindwa, the KCC FC fans boss wants Stanislus Isiagi — the developer who bought part of the KCC FC ground at Lugogo — to compensate them for their structure he destroyed recently. He says fans are bitter that while they struggle to sustain their ‘Boys’ others are bent on frustrating them. ‘We were constructing a shed for our players to relax after training,’’ Mulindwa noted. He said only compensation could cool them.

Musisi memorial
SOCCER - Majid Musisi Foundation has organised a football gala in memory of the soccer legend. The event slated for February 3 at Nakivubo is dedicated to the former Cranes and SC Villa prolific striker. Musisi, one of the greatest Ugandan footballer died on December 13 in 2005. Foundation boss Alex Kayima said the event comes belatedly for various reasons.
