WHAT is the best way to ensure your audience enjoys a lengthy talk on Internet and Communication Technology? Relate it to a topic they love to talk about.

That is exactly what New Vision’s CEO Robert Kabushenga did in his presentation as Data Fundi, a local information and communications technologies firm, made five years.

“ICT and the media: Is it a sexual relationship or an incestuous mess?” he started. Then he had everyone’s ears.

He went on to describe how their romance with Data fundi started, sending his audience into laughter with the narration.

ICT Minister Ham Mulira on his part jocularly noted that Kabushenga was picking up a career as a comedian after office hours.

Such was the mood at the Kamwokya-based company. the announcement that Data Fundi had merged with reputable international ICT companies from Denmark Emperion to become Teleport East Africa was met with great cheers.

A beaming Edward Musisi, Data Fundi’s MD, said as an incurable optimist, there was no doubt the merger would see them scale the heights.

At the same anniversary celebrations, Data fundi unveiled a corporate social responsibility initiative where they will provide computers and free Internet connectivity to the Uganda Heart Institute in Mulago.

A ceremonial anniversary cake was cut and it was time to toast to the company that started operations in a garage.
