More troops for Somalia
Bujumbura
A total of 220 troops from Burundi have landed in Somalia where they will serve in the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM). This brings the number of Burundian soldiers in Mogadishu to 400. The Burundian army spokesman, Adolphe Manirakiza, said a total of 850 Burundian soldiers would be in Mogadishu by the end of this month. The first batch of the soldiers was deployed on December 22, 2007. Burundi is the second country to deploy peacekeepers after Uganda.
