Primary Teachers have been warned against handling criminal cases, including defilement, that take place at their schools. District Education Officer Victoria Businge said teachers have got no jurisdiction to mediate between parents and their children when cases are committed against them. This was at a meeting at Mucwa District Headquarters where Head teachers received PLE results recently. She also warned school administrators who masterminded premature transfers of their teachers.

Brian Godfrey Babalanda, a Second Year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student has been elected the Guild President of Namasagali University in a race that attracted three other contestants. Babalanda, who stood on the NRM ticket, scored 325 votes, while his closest rival, FDC’s Michael Onechan, who is also the Gulu district deputy speaker, got 221 votes. Independent candidates Joachim Amanyire and Paul Mugweri got 40 and five votes respectively in the election held at the university recently. Babalanda said he would put more emphasis on establishing a good working relationship with other universities and rebuilding the image of the institution. “We will organise a get together of all old students of the great Namasagali institutions (Namasagali college and university), to discuss our problems,” he said.
