THE battle for second spot rages as Super League contenders KCC FC and SC Villa return to action today. KCC and Villa, who share second spot at 29 points, six behind leaders Police, must win their games to reduce the margin.

KCC coming off a 6-1 victory over Romanian coach Dorian Marin’s Nalubaale hope to snatch maximum points from Maroons at Luzira prisons grounds. While Villa have a tricky away tie against mid-table Bunamwaya at Nakivubo.

KCC coach Moses Basena, who seems to have solved the team’s goal-scoring deficiency, will be out to go into recess close to the table leaders.

“We now create more chances and score goals but we should stop conceding. Maroons are tough opponents who we must play at our best. We played poorly in the last three weeks, we cannot afford to slip-up any more,” Basena stated.

He will look to the twin strike partnership of top-scorer Hamis Kitagenda and teenage Brian Omony for goals.

Swift winger Vincent Kayizzi, who recently suffered a knee injury, is doubtful while Robert Tumusiime (hamstring) and goalkeeper Karim Kamyuka (twist) have been ruled out of the match.

In the other game Express take on Maji at Wankulukuku — the tie the hosts must win to leap to fourth position.
