SOCCER - FUFA President, Lawrence Mulindwa has pledged to send soccer instructors to conduct coaching courses in the army in a bid to improve the game. Mulindwa made the pledge after the Bombo-based General Headquarters team beat Second Division side of Mbarara 2-1 in the final of the Army Commander’s Cup Mulindwa was at Masindi. FUFA donated the trophy. The event was part of the activities to mark the annual Tarehe Sita day celebrations. The final was also attended by Gen Salim Saleh.

Umoja gets nod

SOCCER - A senior UPDF officer Col Emmanuel Rwashande, the second division operations and training officer, has hailed Umoja players for guiding the division to second place in the Army Commander’s Cup. Umoja and the other top teams were given a set of uniform, foot balls and trophies. The final of Commander’s Cup was held in Bombo. At the same time, preparations to stage the East Africa military Cup are going on. The date will be set soon.

Ssemujju ready

RALLYING - Teenager Shafik Ssemujju is the second driver to confirm participation in the Southern Motor club Challenge Rally due February 23-24.The-18- year-old Ssemujju, who is currently in his S.4 vacation, registered for the annual event after ‘Super Lady’ Rose Rwakataka, the wife of national rally champion Ponsiano Rwakataka.
The first event of this year’s rallying season, will be held Kampala, Luwero and Wakiso districts.
