MEMBERS of Ndeeba Parish Youth Association are clearing blocked drainage systems from Ndeeba to Lubigi swamp, writes Vision Reporter.

By Tuesday morning, members were clearing the major bridge near the Sembuule factory at Nalukolongo, one of the major causes of flooding in the area.

“They are responding to the perennial flooding. Some of it was experienced near the end of 2007 when all the roads were rendered impassable and we called for help.”

“Ndeeba councillors Othman Bukenya and Andrew Kakooza are the mobilisers of the group, which is also funded by Concern International,” a Lubaga councillor, John Lukaaga, said.

The drainage, which moves water from the Kabaka’s Lake to Lubigi swamp at Nateete, has been filled with polythene bags, which had formed a semi-solid wall, preventing free flow of water out of the city.
