THE Police in Luweero district have arrested a man who sneaked into Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s palace at Bamunanika on Saturday. Abdul Salaam Nyanga, 41, was found seated in the Kabaka’s sitting room without the knowledge of the palace security personnel.

The acting district criminal investigations department chief, James Kato, said Nyanga, a resident of Bwasandeku village in Masaka, was arrested with fetishes which included mushrooms and herbs in polythene bags. “We wonder what could have prompted him to enter the Kabaka’s house and sit in his chair,” Kato said.

The Kabaka’s UPDF escorts first took Nyanga to Bamunanika Police Post before transferring him to Luweero Police Station on Monday.

Nyanga said he wanted the Kabaka to help him pay school fees for his children, who are studying abroad.

Nyanga, who repeatedly referred to the Kabaka as ‘my grandson’, said someone he identified as Amina tipped him off that Mutebi would be in Bamunanika on Saturday (February 9).

“When I reached the gate, I did not see anybody to guide me, so I proceeded into the house until I got somewhere to sit,” he told the Police.

“I was surprised when soldiers roughed me up,” he said, adding that it was his first time to visit the Bamunanika palace.
