NATIONAL Insurance Corporation (NIC) netball club are a win away to recapturing the East Africa Netball Club Championship after a 45-34 victory over compatriots Prisons yesterday.

Attacker Sunim Namiiro and shooter Annet Nakiwu were king pins that gave the Ugandan champions their third consecutive victory in the regional meet at Nakivubo stadium.

A victory in the final encounter against Jeshi La Kujenga Taifa (JKT) of Tanzania today, will guarantee the Ugandan champions the regional title.

“We are very much focused for victory. God willing, we shall regain glory tomorrow (Friday),” vowed NIC team official Fatia Kitaka yesterday.

If they win today, NIC will dethrone Jeshi Stars, the Tanzanian champions who ended NIC’s 10-year unbeaten run in 2006.

To raise their chances of a win, attacker Florence Amongin was given a rest yesterday for today’s showdown.
