THE festive season is over and its effects are becoming evident on the weighing scale. We all want to start the New Year with a bang, on a high note, looking our best at all those parties and inevitable get-togethers.

Well, while we shed the unwanted kilos, here are a few homemade looks that disguise what we want to hide and make the most of what we have.

A new look for the new you, in the New Year!

The outfit:
Traditional meets modern in this casual smart outfit that can be worn to the kids’ friend’s birthday party or the informal barbecue maintaining a no fuss aura and keeping you cool at the same time.

Tip:
This modified rendition of the traditional boubou style with its scoop neckline is very flattering and at the same time conceals all that we’d like to hide. The fact that the shoulders are shown makes it a determinedly feminine outfit which would flatter all ladies except those with broad shoulders.

Fabric requirements:
This outfit can be made out of linen, khaki and any other such light cotton fabrics. The bulkier fabric should be used to make the trousers or they can be lined.

1-2 metres of double width fabric is needed for the shirt. (The longer the tunic the more the fabric required)

2-2½metres of double width fabric is needed for the trouser
