BARERLY a week in Uganda, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has fallen in love with the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) development programme, and has promised to help in developing the local game.

After a series of discussions, MCC team manager Stephen Salisbury has promised to identify four promising players to be taken to the MCC academy. The four will also be fixed to play in London teams.

“We had so many discussions and what he wants is a long term plan.

It will be him, not UCA, to identify these players. He will be watching different games until the end of their tour,” Dr. Kato Sebbaale, UCA chairman said.

Salisbury had earlier hailed Uganda in the areas of bowling and fielding.

“Their only problem is the batting, but it can be improved. Just a few basics and they will be able to take on the world,” he said after the two-day game against the U-19 team at Kyambogo.

During the welcome cocktail, Salisbury had pledged to assist the local association in any way possible. MCC yesterday held a coaching clinic at King’s College Budo.
