Kabarole gets sh300m gravity water scheme

KABAROLE District, in partnership with UNICEF, has constructed a water gravity flow scheme worth over sh300m for Muguusu sub-county.

KABAROLE District, in partnership with UNICEF, has constructed a water gravity flow scheme worth over sh300m for Muguusu sub-county.

The LC5 chairperson, Michael Mugisa, and other leaders commissioned the project at Nyabuswa village recently.
UNICEF contributed about sh200m, while the district contributed over sh100m towards the project.

Over 400 households in Karagura, Kinyankende, Butimange, Nyakasojo, Rukoko, Kiraro, Kigaya and Kyakihara villages will benefit from the scheme. Twenty-one taps will be erected in 10 villages.

At the launch, Kabarole district water officer, Pius Mugabi said: “We want to increase access to safe water, improve hygiene and sanitation practices like use of pit latrines, washing hands and use of clean water in the communities.”

He said five toilets would be set up in selected villages for demonstration purposes.

The villages to benefit include Karagura, Kinyankende, Butimange, Nyakasojo, Rukoko, Kiraro, Kigaya and Kyakihara.
