CRANES star David Obua smacked home a contender for goal of the season to inspire South Africa giants Kaizer Chiefs to a priceless 2-0 win away to gritty Bidvest Wits University on Wednesday.

It was Chiefs fourth win of the season and their second away victory of the campaign.

Shaun Bartlett had got the Amakhosi off to the perfect start when he headed them into the lead with just 12 minutes of the match gone as he notched up goal number four for the season.

The opener though was not reflective of just what a tough time the plucky Students, who started the match in third place on the standings, gave Chiefs, as they too had had their fair amount of goal scoring opportunities. But for some resilient defending, Wits too could have found their way onto the scoreboard.

It required some moment of genius to separate the two sides, and who other than, the Ugandan international to deliver that final punch in injury time.

Picking up a pass some 20 yards out, Obua let rip with a vicious left foot drive as the ball curled and then straightened as it shot past Wits custodian Josephs to rattle the back of the net and hand Chiefs all three points.

In the other game, Geoffrey Massa could not find a way past Cranes teammate Denis Onyango as second-placed Supersport held battling Jomo Cosmos 0-0.
