BORN-AGAIN Christians (Balokole) have pledged to work with the new Buganda premier to develop the kingdom. The promise was made on Sunday at Nakivubo Stadium during a special prayer service for the premier, John Baptist Walusimbi and the kingdom.

“We pledge allegiance to you. We shall directly work with you in implementing you programmes of poverty eradication, education and improving the standards of living of the Baganda,” said Apostle Alex Mitala, the chairman of the National Fellowship of Born-again Churches.

Mitala promised that the Pentecostal churches would be the first in bulungi bwansi (charity) activities of the kingdom.

“We have numerous projects for transforming our communities. We have projects for educating and looking after orphans.

“We have many friends and partners abroad who can be of help to Buganda,” Mitala said.

He dismissed claims that Balokole were against the kingdom.

“We love our Kabaka. We love Buganda and all its cultural values that are not anti-Christian. We only ask you to officially recognise us as a religion that is different from others.

“There are many cultural practices that we refuse because they are not congruent with our faith, but, that does not mean we don’t love the kingdom and its good cultural values.”

Pastor Joseph Sserwadda said God created different tribes and separated each of them with a unique language and geographical territory, which should be jealously guarded.

Other pastors present at the function were Simeon Kayiwa, Morris Bukenya and Steven Ssebyala.

They prayed for wisdom, unity, peace, love and prosperity for Buganda.

The Katikkiro said he would delegate Balokole to work on behalf of the kingdom.
