UGANDA Hockey Association has contracted Pegasus International — the engineering company that constructed the national hockey ground at Lugogo to generate funds for the association.

While inaugurating the synthetic turf on Saturday, UHA chairman Henry Magino said they had signed a two-year contract with Pegasus.

Under the contract Pegasus will remit 12.5% of income generated from hiring out the facility for sports and social functions to UHA and retain 87.5%.

“This agreement is subject to review upwards or downwards depending on response in business. It is going to be a money spinning source for UHA,” Magino explained.

The association has ruled out football training on the pitch but agreed to hire it out for handball and social ceremonies that will not involve consumption of beer.

Pegasus will also solicit billboard adverts around the stadium.

Uganda Olympic Committee secretary general Gabriel Oloka, who attended the inauguration ceremony, tipped the hockey association of UOC’s fund for hockey talent development for which he asked the association to provide a budget.
