FORMER Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels, Brig. Sam Kolo has excelled in the recently-released UACE results.

Kolo was the best candidate with 15 points in the 2007 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) at Alliance High School, a private school in Gulu municipality.

He got 5DDAE in History, Economics, Entrepreneur-ship and Geography. He wants to become an economist if he can be sponsored to pursue a university course.

Kolo, who surrendered in February 2005, appealed to the Government and the donor community to help sponsor him and other formerly abducted children who went back to school.

“I and nine other adult students of various categories and backgrounds formed a reading and discussion group.
“I am very happy we made it. I hope Government will support me and the rest who need special treatment so that we can study.

“This is also one of the best ways for me to have national or international reconciliation with all categories of people,” Kolo, who beat over 80 youngsters, told journalists.

The Alliance High School director, Joe Otim, said the Open Learning Adult Education section had 25 candidates last year, 10 of whom got four principle passes each, including Kolo.

He said 15 students from the adults class passed with at least two principle passes each.
