EASTER is here and many people are planning to celebrate it with their families. Although it usually comes at a time when most people are grappling with poverty, after sending children to school, there is still something for everyone to spend within their means.

GOOD FRIDAY
Ndere Centre will host a gospel show. Artistes Wilson Bugembe, Judith Babirye, Betty Namaganda, Carol Budikwe, Martin Seku and Juliana Kanyomozi will perform. Adults will pay sh10,000 and children, sh5,000. About sh20,000 is enough to cater for an individual’s transport and snacks. A small family will need sh50,000.

Silk Royale will host the Ragga-Reggae Night. The club has organised a jazz promotion in which revellers will get goodies. At Silk Royale, entrance is sh5,000 if one has a flyer and sh10,000 without it. In Silk Club, entrance is sh5,000, while in the Lounge, revellers will pay sh20,000 each.

Tonight is Easter Girls’ Nite Out at Ange Noir. Entrance fee is sh30,000 per couple and sh15,000 singles. Ladies will pay half the price. Beer costs sh2,500, soft drinks and water at sh1,000 and snacks sh1,500 and above.

It is Rebelution Friday at the Basement. Entrance is sh5,000 and sh10,000 (VIP). Mineral water costs sh1,500, soda sh1,000 and beer from sh2,500 upwards. For the average single person, sh20,000 can take you through the night.

Tonight is Special Brandy Easter Party at Club Pa Lui in Ntinda. The first 20 ladies will get a glass of brandy. Entrance is sh10,000. Beer costs sh2,500 while soft drinks go for sh1,500. The price of snacks varies, but sh5,000 is enough.

A reveller from the suburbs of Kampala can enjoy a night at the club for between sh20,000—sh25,000, while for couples, about sh40,000 is enough. Even then, one can spend less depending on what they eat or drink.

UBC TV will screen the Omnibus Special, starting today, from 11:00am— 3:00pm. The popular soap, Cuando Seas Mia, will also be screened.

If you are a movie fan, get yourself a DVD or VCD or from one of the movie shops. Most shops charge between sh1,000 to sh5,000 a copy.

Christ The King Parish will conduct The Way of the Cross from 1:00pm to 3:00pm around Parliament Avenue. At 3:00pm the Good Friday liturgy will be recited.

Kampala Pentecostal Church will have a communion service in the Central Auditorium from 10:00am to 12:00pm. There will be a praise rally from 7:00pm to 10:00pm in the parking yard. You will only have to spend on transport and soft drinks.

Tonight, Pastor Robert Kayanja will lead worshippers in prayer at Rubaga Miracle Centre.

At All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero, the youth will present a show and there will be a candle-lit service at 7:00pm.

EASTER EVE
Afridiamonds, (Afritalent and Diamonds Ensemble) will re-stage their play, Maswanku at Bat Valley Theatre. A VIP ticket costs sh15,000; ordinary seating, sh10,000 and students, sh5,000. If you do not have a car, it is better to attend the day show.

Variety night at Club Pa Lui. Entrance is sh10,000.

Ange Noir will host Variety Night. University students with IDs will pay sh5,000 to be allowed into Ange Mystique.

Club Silk will present the Easter Groove Night. Entrance is sh10,000 in Silk Royale; sh20,000 in Silk Lounge and sh4,000 downstairs.

The Basement will host Toxic Saturday. A variety of cocktails will be sold and lucky fans will win free cocktails. Entrance is sh5,000 and sh10,000 (VIP).

At Cineplex Cinema, everyone who buys a ticket during the Easter weekend qualifies to enter a draw where lucky winners will win prizes worth millions of shillings. Films include 10,000 BC, an animated comedy and Spiderwick Chronicles, also an animation. RACE, an Indian film, will also be showing at the cinema. A ticket costs sh11,000, but those who come with their families will get a discount. Singles people can budget for sh17,000 and a small family, sh60,000.

Kampala Amateur Dramactorswill stage 12 Angry People throughout the Easter weekend. The play mainly dwelling on law and justice. It will be showing at the National Theatre Auditorium.

Entrance fee is sh10,000, while students with IDs will pay sh3,000. The play will be staged at 3:00pm and 7:30pm. If you plan to go by yourself, sh11,000 is enough; a snack (sh1,000), a drink (sh2,000,) and transport (sh3,000) is enough. If you plan to watch the play as a couple, sh25,000 is enough. For students, sh5,000 can do.

You can also participate in decorating and cleaning Christ The King Church from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

EASTER SUNDAY
Christ The King Church will celebrates mass in English at 7:00am, 8:00am, 9:00am,10.15am, 11.30am, 1.00pm and 5:00pm.

Dubbed Festival of Hopeon, Kampala Pentocostal Church (KPC) will have one service. KPC will also celebrate 24 years. The service starts at 10:00am and will be held at Namboole Stadium.

Service at Rubaga Miracle Centre will be held at 8:30am, 10:30am and at 12:30pm.

All Saints Cathedral will have four services.

At a fee of sh75,000 (VIP) and sh20,000 for ordinary seating, K-CI &JoJo, the American R&B singers will entertain revvellers at Kati Kati grounds on Easter. For the average person, sh30,000 can cater for one person and sh60,000, a couple.

Sophie Nantongo, Eng Kateregga and Qute Kaye are scheduled to perform at Gaba Beach on Easter. Entrance fee is sh5,000.
A couple with two or three children and has no car can spend sh20,000, transport inclusive. For an individual, sh15,000 can do and for a couple, sh25,000.

Hotel Africanacomes alive as the Eagles Production alongside Bobi Wine and Jose Chameleone perform. Children will pay sh10,000 and adults, sh20,000. Sh80,000-sh100,000 is sufficient for a family of four; sh60,000 for a couple and sh30,000 for an individual.

Gospel fans will be treated to Endongo Ya Yesu concert on Sunday. Staged at Nakivubo stadium, leading gospel artistes Wilson Bugembe and Judith Babirye will entertain fans for sh10,000 (VIP), sh3,000 adults and sh2,000 for children. Sh40,000 is enough for a family of four. For individuals and couples, sh10,000—sh20,000 is can do.

Aloysius Matovu Joy Junior and other artistes launch their album, L.O.V.E, at Sharing Hall, Nsambya on Easter. Entrance is sh10,000 and sh25,000 (VIP). Sh60,000 can cater for a family of four and sh40,000 for a couple.

UBC TVwill show Christian Voice at 9:30pm. The station will also televise Cuando Seas Mia from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

Record TV airs an exclusive live show on local artistes’ videos. The concert will be held at Theatre La Bonita. Entrance is sh10,000. A family of four can spend about sh50,000; one person, sh15,000 and a couple sh20,000.

Basement will treat revellers to an Easter Bonanza. Entrance is sh5,000 and all proceeds go to charity. An individual can spend about sh15,000 and a couple, sh30,000.

Club Pa Lui’s Variety Night. Entrance fee is sh5,000 and ladies enter free before midnight.

It is Easter Carnival at Ange Noir tonight.

The treat costs sh45,000 per person inclusive of drinks, buffet, wine, beer and soft drinks. On average, a couple can spend about sh100,000 and an individual, sh60,000. For a family of four, budget for sh250,000.

EASTER MONDAY
Christ The King will celebrate mass in Luganda at 7:00am and 9:00am. Mass in English will be celebrated at 10:30am and 3:00pm. The choir will also sing Easter Carols.

Michael Olson, a gospel artiste from the US, presents a live concert at Namboole Stadium at 1:30pm. The show is free, so sh10,000 (per head) and sh15,000 (couple) is enough to cater for transport and snacks.

Kiwatuule Recreation Centre hosts the East African Carnival. Artistes Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, Nameless, Necessary Noize, Professor J and Dudu Baya will perform. Entrance is sh5,000. Sh30,000 is enough to cater for drinks, snacks and transport for a family.

A couple with two or three children and no car can spend about sh30,000. Sh15,000 can cater for an individual and sh25,000, a couple.

Eagles Production performs at Didi’s World, Kansanga for sh5,000 (adults) and children, sh3,000. Sh50,000 can cater for a small family, sh25,000—sh30,000 for a couple and between sh15,000-sh20,000 for one person.

The National Theatre will host the Musicians’ Club ’89 Jam Session. Everyone will be given an opportunity to perform. The show is free and starts at 8:00pm.

Snacks cost sh1,000 and above, while drinks vary from sh500 to sh2,000.
Sh5,000 is enough to cater for an individual and sh10,000 for a couple.
