POLICE FC’s league title-winning hopes are fast fading. The 2005 league champions’ fifth consecutive indifferent result against Bunamwaya at Namboole Stadium yesterday simply justified forecasts that the Cops would regret the departures of Cranes’ squads-men Tony Mawejje and Simeon Masaba.

The duo, which virtually formed the spine of the Police team, left to join URA FC and title challengers SC Villa in mid season, raising eyebrows over the Cops’ priorities this season. Police leads the league with 54 points from 26 games while second placed Villa are three points adrift with 51 points but with a game in hand.

Police, who had earlier dropped points in stalemates against Express FC (0-0), Biharwe(1-1), Kinyara(1-1), and Iganga (1-0), enjoyed a fair share of possession but couldn’t notch that desired breakthrough.

Hamza Muwonge was everything exciting about a lacklustre Bunamwaya side that virtually created no evident goal-scoring opportunity.

Action continues today with CRO taking on Kampala side Maji in Mbale municipal stadium.
