UGANDA’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring is in Nairobi for the Kenya circuit due this weekend. The event is part of an international series lined up in six African countries.

The continent’s top names will from Nairobi move to Algeria, South Africa, Mauritius, Nigeria and then to Kampala.

Competitors will use the the Africa Badminton Federation sanctioned events to qualify for the Olympic Games due in  Beijing in August.

Ekiring, fresh from the international badminton training centre in Germany, is looking for a double success after winning the Mauritius International Open in February. Ekiring is the second seed in Africa and is ranked 104 in the world.

National coach Simon Mugabi said that Ekiring would qualify for the Beijing show if he is among the top 100 players after the international circuit.
