A consultancy firm has sued Aya Investments seeking to recover sh643m as compensation. Hansa and Lloyds filed the case in the High Court Commercial Court Division in March.

Lloyds contend that Aya contracted their firm in October last year and in 2005 to undertake various financial consultancy assignments on behalf of several Aya Group companies but they failed to pay for the services. The company is jointly sued with its managing director Mohammed Hamid.

“Despite numerous demands and notices of intention to sue the defendant (Aya investment) has failed to pay,”reads the notice. Lloyds wants court to order Aya to pay for the cost of the suit and interest accruing. But Aya denies contracting Lloyds for any work.

The Commercial Court registrar has allocated the case to Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire for hearing but the date is yet to be fixed.
