SC VILLA’S hopes of winning a double this season were left in tatters after being bundled out of the Kakungulu Cup in a penalty shootout.

URA might be struggling in the league but coach Moses Basena’s boys showed their cup credentials in the game, with Johnson Bagoole putting the tax-men in the lead in extra-time.

Stephen Bengo then put Villa back in it, but URA had the last laugh when Simeon Masaba and Yusuf Kyeyune missed their kicks for the Jogoos. Joram Katende missed for the taxmen but it didn’t matter in the end as they walked off 4-3 winners.

In the Super League, KCC and Nalubaale continued their rise on the table as Simba snatched crucial three points as they battle against the drop. KCC won their fifth game on the trot, away at Edioffe.

Early strikes from Charles Ssemanda and Ronald Kamoga ensured that Ediofe fans, who braved a heavy downpour to cheer on their team without their lead striker Caesar Okhuti, need more prayers to survive relegation.

Express, could not turn on the style that has seen them march on in Kakungulu Cup and were held to a one-all draw by Bunamwaya at their home in Wankulukuku.

Dennis Kyeyune scored for the Red Eagles with Andy Ssali equalising for Bunamwaya.

Bruno Olobo did not only discover his scoring boots, but eased coach Sam Ssimbwa’s survival battle, after his lone strike ensured that Simba get maximum points at the Recreation ground to leap over Masaka.

Five teams will be relegated at the end of the season.
