THE Rhino Pub at the Sheraton Hotel was recently replaced by the new, less rowdy Equator Bar and Restaurant.
The Equator is a chic lounge with brown and maroon colours (for the walls), is very clean and has a colonial touch with a blend of modern designs and retro furniture (leather bound with smooth mahogany).

“With a seating capacity of 90 people, the Equator also has a library for those who want to read. It has private beverage vaults where guests can buy and store their drinks,” explains Kwashie Gbedemah, the F&B director.

The Equator comes with a new concept — wine and food pairing. “Wine and food pairing is a culinary style often practised in Europe where every meal is accompanied with an appropriate wine leading to exciting explosions of taste and flavours,” Gbedemah adds.

The main course options are named after their regions of origin like the Ugandan Delight and the Traditional Mexican (grilled pork medallions).

For the fish enthusiasts, there is the Basil Pesto fish fillet (grilled tilapia on creamed caraway cabbage leaves). The seafood platter has jumbo prawns, crabs, lobster and, soon to be introduced, squid.

The Equator offers 16 dishes on the menu which are going to be changed quarterly.

Although heavy on the pocket, the experience at the Equator is certainly one you will live to remember.
