THE Forum for Democratic Change party is to hold countrywide elections to choose new district leaders.

The deputy spokesman, Toterebuka Bamweda, yesterday said the polls would strengthen their structures at the grassroots#.

“We expect our members to vote leaders at village, parish, sub-county and county levels. Thereafter they will elect district leaders. We want to augment our structures to prepare for victory in the near future,” he told journalists at the FDC headquarters in Kampala.

According to the publicist, the party was strong on the ground, contrary to reports that its supporters were defecting to the ruling NRM party.

“I have talked to our leaders in those areas. They told me no one crossed to the NRM. The people who were seen displaying our cards and letters had fake duplicate cards. They are not our members.”

Because of the widespread poverty countrywide, Bamwenda suggested, the peasants throng the President’s rallies hoping to receive an ‘envelope.’

On last week’s media rports that the Judiciary was one of the leading institution in bribery; Bamwenda said it was shameful that members of such an important institution were a disgrace.

“The Inspector of Government’s ranking of the Judiciary is worrying. The Judiciary is supposed to be clean because that is where we go to resolve our problems.”
