Early this year, when we discussed cars you should drive in 2008, some total men complained that their status was beyond used cars.

Well, we have Spear Motors, Motorcare, Cooper Motors, Victoria Motors, Toyota Uganda, Walusimbi’s Garage, Tata Uganda, Kampala Nissan, General Motors (East Africa) and Kampala Motors dealing in brand new models.

The prices may be considered expensive by an average Ugandan, but who said total men are scared of spending? Don’t real beauties come with a real cost?

At Spear Motors, for instance, there is a 2008 Mercedes Benz G-Class (Cross-Country) G500. “The price is available on request,” says Sales Director, Gilbert Wavamunno. (Read: If you don’t look like a serious buyer, we won’t disclose the price).

However, according to Yahoo Autos, prices for this 5-passenger luxury Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), start from sh150m ($86,000) before taxes.

There is also a Dodge Nitro, an American car with German technology, which goes for sh91m ($52,000) on the road.

Spear Motors now imports top Chinese vehicles manufactured by Great Wall Motors (GWM). They range from sh35m-sh53m.

At Motorcare Uganda, dealers in the famous CHOGM BMWs and Nissan cars, a Nissan Pathfinder 2007 - officially launched recently - goes for sh117.7 (46, 900 Euros). The BMW 530, similar to the CHOGM ones, goes for sh192.5 ($110,000). The very popular Nissan Hard body 2008 goes for sh70m ($40,000).

Victoria Motors, where Kampala Mayor Nasser Ssebaggala recently purchased a Mitsubishi Pajero GLS, a 2008 Lancer GLX goes for sh52.5m ($30,000). The Mayor’s Pajero costs sh122.5m ($70,000) while the GLX; middle range (a little bit of extras and basic features), costs sh96.3 ($55,000). The basic version, GL, is at sh78.8m ($45,000).

Go for them damn beauties, men! Life is but a dream!
