President Museveni promotes 65 Uganda People’s Defence Forces officers

THE commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Gen. Yoweri Museveni, has promoted 65 UPDF officers to ranks ranging from lieutenant to colonel.

THE commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Gen. Yoweri Museveni, has promoted 65 UPDF officers to ranks ranging from lieutenant to colonel.

Lt. Col Ezra Kiyombo was promoted to Colonel. Nineteen majors including Ssebi Kheil, Benon Ngyereize, Awasi Kapel, Frank Kanyarutookye, Jimmy Mukibi, Frank Kyambade and Fred twinamatsiko, were promoted to the lt. colonel.

Others promoted to Lt. colonel were Nathan Begumisa, Emmanuel Kwihangana, Jerome Bashaija, Silvio Aguma, Willy Ndinda, Ali Chama, Patrick Mwesigye, Jasper Abeka Onegiu, Younes Bagada, Willy Mugisha, Charles Kisembo, Ham Atwooki Kaija and Grace Agaba. A statement from the UPDF spokesperson, Maj. Paddy ankunda said: “This is per the terms and turyahikayo, J. Ikuna Etiang, Haji Mohamed Ojale, Florian Twizele, James Lwegamba, Ephraim mwine, Jimmy Asizua, Abdul Nyanzi, Daniel Bulwadda and Leonard Ddungu. Acting Lt. Susan Namusisi is now a major.

The others promoted were six acting captains: Jack Mugerwa to major, Dr Aska Twinobuhungiro, Henry S Kyobe, Dr Ronald Lopez , Dr Mpomede David and Kyenyonyi Amon to captain.

Another 19 lieutenants were promoted. They were J. Kwebiha, M. Sentongo and R. Winyi to major.

S. Mugisha, E. Okiror, D. Katushabe, B. Kalenzi, P. Bariine, B. Kamushana, G. Kyomugisha, R. Kagyenyi, G. Abigaba, J. Taremwa, S. Kivumbi, J. Nuwagaba, D. Gumisiriza, C. Onaba, G. Anang, W. Rwendana Aine and S. Mapata to captain.
