Muyanja dates Ruyange in tennis final

DANIEL Ruyange will meet Henry Muyanja in the final of the Super 8 tournament at Lugogo tennis centre court on Saturday.

DANIEL Ruyange will meet Henry Muyanja in the final of the Super 8 tournament at Lugogo tennis centre court on Saturday.
Ruyange, an older brother of Uganda tennis star Duncan Mugabe, was a 6-3 6-0 winner over Moses Mutiti in a semi-final game played on Sunday.
The first edition of the Uganda Lawn Tennis Association tournament will see the top eight players meet monthly to determine the best player in the country. Muyanja beat James Bayego 6-2 7-5 to book a dual with Ruyange.
The purpose of the tournament is to give players motivation ahead of bigger tournaments like the ITF circuit and the Futures tournament due later in this year.
“We want our players to remain in shape and this group also includes our budding youngsters in the U-18 category,†James Kasumba, a member of ULTA said.
“Several of our players complain about lack of equipment and balls which we have provided them with this time.â€
The local tennis body is running the event but hopes to attract sponsors in future.
