SHERATON Kampala Hotel has received the International Standards Organisation (ISO) 9001-2000 certification, becoming the only hotel in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa with the rating.

The award was given by the Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI). Sheraton recently underwent a surveillance audit for their quality management system, which was implemented five years ago.

During the hand-over of the audit report, Rajab Juma Birya, the lead assessor for BVQI, said: “I am happy and obliged to say that Sheraton is focusing on quality. This is a timely and appropriate step in this era of globalisation.”

Bagonza Julius, the hotel’s manager for special projects, said: “Quality is a moving target. If you hold your system constant without striving for continuous improvement, you will miss the target.”

The general manager, Jawaid Akhtar, thanked the hotel team for their commitment.
